Miracle Phillies Capture Tournament Crown

On the final night of regular season play, the Phillies captured the Minor Tournament championship in amazing fashion.  After winning just two of their twelve regular season games, the Phillies rolled through the tournament winning four of five games and capturing the championship.  The Thursday night championship versus the regular season champion Rays saw two hard fought games.  In the first game, the Rays rode the strong arm of Ethan Brewington to a 6-2 victory.  Brewington took a no-hitter into the sixth where the Phillies managed two hits and two runs, but Brewington was able to close out the complete game victory and force the deciding second game.  In the nightcap, the Phillies scored early and held off a late Rays rally to win 6-3.  Dante Scott and Maddox Powers combined to hold the Rays bats in check until late in the game.  The Phillies offense was led by Hayden Hickman and Jaquez Anderson.  In the bottom of the sixth, the Rays rallied behind a towering two run homer by Jacob Britt, but Powers got the final out to get the save.

In other leagues completed earlier in the week, the Majors tournament championship went to the Diamondbacks who did it the hard way beating the regular season champ Phillies twice on the final night.  The Coach Pitch championship was captured by the Braves.
