The Lumberton Coach Pitch American all star team lost a heart-breaker to Hope Mills American with a final score of 4-3. The game ended when a controversial call ended the inning. With the controversial loss the Lumberton Coach Pitch American team’s season has ended.
The Coach Pitch National team recorded it’s second win of the All Star tournament when they defeated Elizabethtown on Sunday. The National team started strong with a 6 run first inning. The National team continued to score runs and finished the game with a score of 11-3. The National team with take on West Robeson National at 6PM tonight
The Coach Pitch American team drew a tough opponent in their tournament opener. The West Robeson American team jumped to a early 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Lumberton American team was able to keep the ball game close until the 4th inning when the West Robeson American team scored 7 runs on multiple hits. In the end, the 7 runs was too much to recover from and the West Robeson Americans won with a final score of 15-1. The Lumberton American team will advance to play the Hamlet American team on Saturday.
The coach pitch National team started off strong with a 6 run inning in the bottom of the first. Fairmont rallied with a couple of hot innings. In the end the score was Lumberton National 10, Fairmont 9. Lumberton National will move on to play the West Robeson National on Monday.

The opening round the Dixie Youth district 9 Minor league All Star tournament will begin on Saturday June 28th in Fairmont North Carolina. The address for the sports complex is 523 Franklin Street. On the final night of regular season play, the Phillies captured the Minor Tournament championship in amazing fashion. After winning just two of their twelve regular season games, the Phillies rolled through the tournament winning four of five games and capturing the championship. The Thursday night championship versus the regular season champion Rays saw two hard fought games. In the first game, the Rays rode the strong arm of Ethan Brewington to a 6-2 victory. Brewington took a no-hitter into the sixth where the Phillies managed two hits and two runs, but Brewington was able to close out the complete game victory and force the deciding second game. In the nightcap, the Phillies scored early and held off a late Rays rally to win 6-3. Dante Scott and Maddox Powers combined to hold the Rays bats in check until late in the game. The Phillies offense was led by Hayden Hickman and Jaquez Anderson. In the bottom of the sixth, the Rays rallied behind a towering two run homer by Jacob Britt, but Powers got the final out to get the save.
In other leagues completed earlier in the week, the Majors tournament championship went to the Diamondbacks who did it the hard way beating the regular season champ Phillies twice on the final night. The Coach Pitch championship was captured by the Braves.
